What People Say about BookAngles

Parents, teachers, librarians and others comment about how BookAngles helps them:

"I trust your opinions and have used your site to help with what I let my children read."

"(In the past) I was pre-reading everything, but it has gotten too hard to keep up with (that) Now I often rely on reviews by other people, but that can be hard, … The reviews that I find can be extremely shallow, or may be written by someone who doesn't share my values.

"That was why I was very excited to find your site. Your reviews are detailed, and they are from a Christian perspective. I appreciate your articles on magic and fantasy; … you stated your points well. I like how you break down your reviews into sections, such as relationships, language, violence and age appropriateness.

"Your 'Favorites' list has given me some good ideas, and I am looking forward to finding even more books through your site. Thanks, and keep up the great work!"

"What a great site you have!!! Thanks!!! I've got it bookmarked.
My eldest has just gone from reading first chapter books to reading Narnia, and now I'll never be able to keep up. I love the detailed information you provide and the recommended reading list."

I have been looking for a site like this! We homeschool, and I can't possibly pre-read all the books that are required for my 6 kids' curriculums! I am so thankful that I have your site to look at to determine whether I want my kids to read their books or not. Thanks so much from a very conservative Christian mom. :) I have advertised your information on our large homeschool support group's Yahoo group online (here in Oklahoma.) I am glad to advertise for those who support wholesome Christian values!

"I am the elementary librarian in a K-12 Christian school. I really appreciate and use your reviews--they are a valuable tool for me as I evaluate potential book purchases and recommendations for reading."

"I'm so excited to find this site! I read your article in Homeschool Enrichment magazine... I am a homeschool mom of four children ranging in age from 15 to 5. They are all avid readers (well, the five-year old likes to be read to). ... As you've already pointed out, I have found that the library is a potentially dangerous place with many "literary landmines". ... Usually I try to scour and even partially read what my children are interested in (I even found a Christian biography that my daughter had inappropriate (material) for her age), but time is slim now that they're older and there's more schoolwork to cover.... Thanks so much."

From "The Homeschooler's Notebook"

"I see quite a few of my favorites on this site!
It looks really good and they review 'not so great' books, too,
so you know what to expect from them." ( from the Editor)

"Hello. I am a Christian homeschooling parent. I am also a librarian, by profession...I very much appreciate your candid reviews. I have sometimes been too trusting of others' recommendations, so it's helpful to read your thorough reviews...Thanks again for your courage and hard work in publishing these reviews."

(from a mom who read the full review of Flowers for Algernon)

Thank you so much for your quick response to my request. I was able to stop her (daughter) from reading it before it progressed too much.

I homeschool, in part to avoid instances like this. But she is taking a few co-op classes and this was one of the assignments. I don't read fiction, and I couldn't pre-read everything that she needs to read for her school work even if I wanted to. I am so grateful for services such as book angles.

End Slavery

The best way to show your appreciation for this free service:

Free the slaves

For many years, our focus was on helping families train their own children. Our heart is still there, but this season of life has us focused on something old, yet new – slavery. More people are held as unwilling slaves today (27 million) than at any time in history, including over 200,000 in the U.S., mostly women and children.

If you appreciate the service BookAngles has provided over the years to you and others, then we invite you to show that appreciation with a donation to our work with International Teams.

to end slavery, because every slave is a family member. Thanks.
